Taking A Blog Break

Dear friends,

I'm so sorry for not blogging or posting snippets of my life these couple of days. It has been a really crazily busy time as I am planning my big day. Yes and that includes a lot of DIY to save the cost of hiring wedding planner or decorators. But having said this, I am enjoying(at least now) every bit of DIY-ing my wedding. And it's really fun to discover great and beautiful DIY decorative ideas. I promise I'll share some really easy peasy ones that I have used or adopted.

The bottomline is: If Yvonne can craft, so can you.

And frankly speaking, I'm very psyched up for the big day though I must say I'm having butterflies fluttering in my tummy and BRAIN almost every other day and can't wait for this mind-torturing ORDEAL to end soon. It's a bittersweet feeling. I guess I am just feeling queasy like any bride-to-be (albeit in a joyful way).

There's nothing more I can ever ask for.

To be married to my best friend, soul mate and lover in my dream wedding style: Garden Wedding. And of course, to have our beautiful daughter to witness the whole loving exchange too.

What can I say?

My life is uniquely wonderful.

P.S: Ooo...last but not least, blogging to resume after 6th June. Stay tune!

Why Do You Read My Blog?

It's 1am in the night now. My hubs and baby are fast asleep. And I had already shut down my laptop and had wanted to go to sleep too. Though tired, I had this burning question in my brain. I thought, maybe I can just blog about it tomorrow but who knows what will happen tomorrow, right? Maybe I forget and this blog will never appear on Beadsyy's Diary? Or I will be too busy and put this blog on hold again and again and again...and it will too, never appear here?

So I decide to just do it. Just restart my laptop and type whatever comes to my mind.

Sometimes, I do encounter days where my blogging inspiration runs low and maybe dry, or when I feel too tired or busy to blog. There are many times I ponder why and what I am blogging for? Of course, it amazes me that there are people out there who read and enjoy my blog and even told me I am a good writer sorta thing which was ironically, my largest mental obstacle prior to starting out this blog.

I was afraid. Very afraid that I am not good enough to write.

But I read an article shared by the renown author of Eat Pray Love, Elizabeth Gilbert on her thoughts on writing. That really inspired me to just try. So for those who felt the same way as I do, and think "I suck at writing" all the time, please read the article.

And if you happen to read this post of mine, may I ask:

Why do you read my blog?

Let me know. I would really want to hear from you.

Just so you know, you are the reason I blog, or at least one of the few.

 ☺

A Friend In Need Is A Friend Indeed

Yesterday, I encountered my most horrendous bride-to-be experience. That was to find out that the dress I had ordered online for my wedding was delayed.  And will probably arrive after my wedding.

What is really maddening was that there was no information on this delay. I only managed to find out when I emailed to enquire on the status of my dress. How “efficient”! I had read raving reviews from the website but I guessed I was just the few of the unlucky minority. And probably serves me right for doing last minute’s preparation. I guess there isn’t any other bride-to-be that is as non-chalant as I do.

But of course, from the very minute that I found out about this panicky situation, I knew there wasn’t much time left to whine about. I had to take control and find the next best solution to solve the problem. I need a dress. ASAP!

So I started whatsapping my BFF, Jamaine. And fortunately, she(and her fiancé) was kind enough to share their Saturday with me. I had a great time gown shopping with them. And no words can describe how grateful I felt.

A helping hand given to you when you needed it. No questions, no complaints.

A big Thanks to my bestie and of course, her lovely fiancé, Jason too.

A Friend In Need Is a True Friend Indeed.

My Blogging Baby

So, this was what I saw this afternoon.

video

My baby is taking after me. OMG!

My little aspiring blogger, or future internet mogul.

Well, whatever it is, Mommy is sure...

 You will rock the world.

Wow! An uppercase X right in the middle of her typing. How cool is that?

Now, that's for a start. My baby knows her caps.

☺

Mother & Daughter

So sometime back, I share about my envies for great Father and Daughter relationships and how I love that my hubby loves our daughter so much. I wish I had a better one but I am contented just to be close to my mom.

My mom used to be a stay home mom who brought us all up, almost single-handedly. Due to some unforeseen circumstances, she had to return to work when I was in my teens.

I remembered when I was younger how I would give my mom daily good night kisses, how I enjoyed having her sleeping with me and how much I missed her on the few occasions she had to go overseas without me. Of course, I knew my mom love me just as much or even more. I truly understand how deep, vast and unconditional a mom’s love can be when I became one myself.

Though there are times when I do get tired out by mommy’s duties and driven crazy by my really active baby, but my love for her never cease. Or occasionally, when I get really mad and lose my anger, I will tell my baby: “but mommy still loves you.” I really do.

Sometimes I wonder, will my daughter stays as attached and reliant on me as she is now? How am I going to deal with the heartbreak when she no longer wants to cuddle or kisses me anymore?

As I ponder on that, I realized that my mom had dealt with this heartbreak, times 4. (I have three more siblings.)

Now when I am all grown up and had moved out, I yearn for my own independence and freedom. I no longer need kisses and cuddles from my mom. Neither do I kiss and cuddle her. It just feels weird to do so now. And too often, I take my mom’s care and concern for granted. But I still love her. As children, we take too much but give too little.

In my mom’s eyes, I am (still) her baby. A mommy will always yearn to be needed and loved by her own children.

So have you remembered to show love to your mommy or perhaps, daddy too?

Busy is a much overrated word. There are things we can do to just show how much we care and love our parents. Simple tasks like spending time to communicate with them and most importantly, listening to them patiently and attentively is the best we can do.

My mommy and her baby girl. ^^

Time and tide waits for no man. Before it’s too late, please start to love and appreciate our dearest love ones much more

My Laughing Baby

"Even if there is nothing to laugh about, laugh on credit."~Author Unknown

Laugh and the world laughs with you!

(Allysa was so amused by this wriggly worm toy that we had to record her giggles. And please pardon the irritating screeching noises from the Mommy. It's all in good fun.

Oh, that's how my voice sounds like as a real person. If you do wonder sometimes... ^^)

Have a hearty Tuesday and Happy Vesak Day too!

Mom, are we seriously taking the plane-plane? *ahhh....*

Let Your Fingers Do The Shopping

“When the going gets tough, the tough goes shopping.”

We all know how a little retail therapy goes a long way. At least, that works for me. When I am feeling stressed or down, all I want is to go shopping, feel them, try them or simply look at the latest trends and pretty things. But as a busy mom(and a stay home one), shopping time is definitely not something I can do as frequent as I used to be. I can barely squeeze enough time for a forty-wink and besides, our family works on a tight monthly budget with poor Aloysius being the only one bringing home the bacon now.

Sounds familiar?

The Great Discovery

So now, I indulge on the next best solution. Retail therapy - ONLINE! Online shopping is made convenient and easy for busy parents, like me and you. Who know as you are reading my blog, you might be browsing through the pages of Kate Spade at another window, looking at their latest collection of bags? And yes, but to only click the little cross at the top right corner in five minutes time as you know spending that $700 on that little clutch bag is not possible or practical unless 1) you decide to go on a vegan diet for the next couple of months, 2) Allysa drinks breast-milk again and let pees and poos around and 3) who are we kidding? Moms carry a army full pack when it's time for a trip out with the brady bunch. Alright, unless you decide that you want to carry a full pack and a clutch on the hand, that works fine too.

Low and behold, everything seems to be made possible when I received this little email from a nice friend. It was an invitation to this international online shopping site, Reebonz (pronouce as ribbons). Being apprehensive if it was a spam, I did my research online. Now not only Reebonz is not a spam, it is the coolest online shopping site, ever!

Reebonz is a members-invitation online shopping site that is known in their niche for offering luxurious labels at a discounted price. DISCOUNTED? Yes! I am not kidding. As quoted from Reebonza place where discounted luxury is not an oxymoron”. Or in other words, it’s like experiencing The Great Singapore Sale all year round at the click of your fingers. OMG! Oh, and definitely beats jostling among the crowd, queuing up to get into high-end lables stores, starred uncomfortably by the store's staff or to simply hunt for your favourite bag to only know it was sold like two minutes ago.

Outstanding Features

We know the catch about online shopping sites too. The steep shipping fee and the surprised custom tax and duties especially if you are shopping on international sites. Reebonz offers free shipment and absorbs custom tax and duties for its members. They offer zero-interest monthly installments for their shoppers at well.(okay, at least this saves me from the vegan diet.) Besides the above, you will receive email notifications from Reebonz to remind you of the upcoming event or set reminders on the sale events you are waiting for on your personal email system. Isn't that really thoughtful?

Now, don’t we just love them even more?

My Reebonz Experience

Recently, I was contacted by Reebonz to share about their new line, Reebonz Kids. I can’t tell you how ecstatic I was. As a member myself, I have been “window shopping” on Reebonz for a while. I love the clean layout of the site that makes it really easy to maneuver and the well-taken photographs of the products that offer great details at sight(which is a value-added factor for shopping online).

So it was good to know that besides something for me, they are offering great quality stuffs like accessories, apparels and toys for kids at a fraction of the original cost.

Yesterday, I received my virgin surprise from Reebonz Kids. And I so-love receiving parcels and the anticipation for the surprise under those ribbons and boxes.

“Unveil the surprise” and so I did. There, it was a lovely cotton dress from the French lable, 3 Pommes.

It was definitely an awww worthy moment.

I totally dig the dress and the pretty floral motifs with beads. It looks really sweet on my baby. It’s light, comfortable and perfect for a day out at the garden. Match it with a pair of white sandles, voila! And how apt it is to receive this gift now as I am searching for a nice little white dress for Allysa. Perfect timing!

I’m truly swooned.

A big Thanks, from Allysa and me, to Reebonz Kids for such a lovely shopping experience.

Can’t wait to get started? Here's how.

To get invited to this cool members-only shopping site, simply click this link and register before 30th June 2011 and you will receive a $20 discount off your first purchase(T&C applies) from Reebonz.

So sit back, relax and let your fingers do the shopping.

Yes, I would let my children fall

If there’s only one value that I can teach my children, it will definitely be resiliency.

Think Anthony Robbins and Oprah Winfrey, HUGELY successful personals now who are brought up from an average to poverty homes.

Think Steve Jobs, who never gives up on Apple Inc.

Or even our local GE 2011 most talked about, Tin Pei Ling. If she isn’t resilient enough, she would have crumbled under the public pressure and hid under her blanket instead of continuing to put on her strongest front.  Seriously, we know we have to at least give her credit for this.

Life is definitely a bed of roses for the younger generation. With the modernization of the society, we benefitted and are hugely blessed with secure and safe streets to wander on and convenient transportation system to get us around 24/7(to name a few).

Little children have no worries about their daily lives. Beds are mysteriously tidied after they get off from bed, breakfast are readily laid on the table after they wash up, uniforms are ironed and hung neatly in wardrobes, school bags are packed and placed by the doorway. Not to forget, shoes and socks are neatly placed by the door and sometimes, if they are lucky, they get help in putting on their shoes and socks. How fortunate!

And what happens when one day, they find out that there are actually thorns among the bed of roses? And nobody warns them of that.

Do they let themselves be pricked and cry helplessly? Or just move on even when pricked?

I would hope my children are the latter ones.

The hard truth is – Life’s is never easy. We have our fair share of knocks and tumbles. Some people continue to grow and blossom under harsh conditions. Some just give up.

Have you wonder why some people are always happier and more optimistic in nature? And why some people enjoy wallowing in self-pity?

If we do not let our kids fall, how are they going to learn to deal with future failures or any obstacles in life?

(source)

And if they do not experience pain, how can they understand what pleasure is?

Take some time and ponder about this.

So for the love of your children, please let them fall.
(with adult’s discretion, of course!)
