Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid

I have this question that I have wanted to ask for awhile. Since FTLOB is hosting "It's Comment Love Day!" today, you can help satisfy my curiosity by leaving a comment or two (or maybe three)!

* Drum roll.....*

What was(were) the worst comment(s) that you have ever heard about your baby from a tactless relative or friend during any celebration?

Hold on your anger! Release that frustration here! Keep the comments gashing in. I would love to hear from you!

As for mine, I just HATE it when tactless relatives comment on Allysa's not-so-sharp nose and will go on pinching her bridge! And it's not a one-time comment. Grrr... Okay, admit it she has Mommy's nose and not Daddy's. But she is still my precious darling!

To all tactless commenters:

Whatever!

Munchkin On Pumpkin

Pumpkin! That's right, she had it this morning. I love pumpkin and she seems to like it too! This is the second vegetable that I have introduced to my baby(avocado was her first).

Hmm....yummy yummy pumpkin pumpkin!

Of course, I couldn't resist stealing some mouthfuls of her pumpkin puree as well! Cause it's way too yummy!

Shiok!

Did I mention I sing? I love singing piggyback songs to Allysa while I feed her. I guess it has become a part of me since I used to work as a preschool teacher myself. Instead of telling the kids what to do, I prefer to sing like Mary Poppins!

My favourite Nanny from Disney (who made medicine-taking o'so sweet)!

I have come up with a new one which you can sing to your munchkin when feeding him/her pumpkin.

Yummy Pumpkin
(Sung to: Skip to my Lou)

Pumpkin is so yummy!
I like to eat it daily
I like it when my mommy feeds me
Pumpkin is so yummy!

Yum yum, it's so yummy!
Pumpkin is good for me
I like it when my mommy feeds me
Pumpkin is so yummy!

Ta-duh!! Well, I hope you like my pumpkin song and find it useful in jazzing up your baby's meal time. You can of course replace it with different food. I sang it with "cereal" too. It's really easy and catchy! And I love this tune too because it sounds so chirpy.

A Baby's Photoshoot!

Nothing - Just sit back and enjoy the photos! (Click here for rest of the collection.)

I am (seriously) considering signing my baby for modelling! So if you are interested in using Allysa as your model, kindly contact me. ^^

Turn Off Word Verification (for the love of blogs)

I just had an A-ha! moment this morning when I was doing my usual blog-wandering. I came across this button that shows "Word Verification" with a no symbol over it. Curious, I clicked on the button and was linked to this blog post by Blogger Jill.

I can't say how useful this post was! This was something that (really)bugged me nowadays especially when I register for some new account online or leave a comment for a post. But of course, being the blog newbie, I was clueless on this word verfication thingy.

Beadsyy's Diary kindly urges all bloggers to sign the pledge and be "Word Verification Free". It wil definitely make the readers' life a wee-bit more convenient so that we can spend those time sharing more lovely thoughts with other fellow bloggers.

grab it by right clicking on it – save it and then post it

And it's Saturday. TGIS! How lovely! Time for a break.

So what's your plan for this great weekend?

Till then, Happy weekend y'all!

Almost Famous

OMG! I can’t exclaim the excitement I am in now after reading The Savvy Mummy’s blog. It just got me jumped out of bed (was lazing a little while Allysa naps) and brag blog about this fantastic news!
I felt I am having my first taste of fame, sort of, in the network of Singapore bloggers (and who knows maybe Internationally as well?). Sheepishly, I feel I am The Savvy Mummy’s muse. (Lol) Sherry aka Savvy Mummy of Singapore was really kind when she approached me, the newbie among other Singapore Mommy bloggers, to be featured in her new project: Featured Singapore Mum Bloggers. Of course, I was really psyched up about this idea and knew I had to give my all in producing the best write up for Sherry.

To find out a little bit more about my featured story, check out The Savvy Mummy’s blog.

Geez, I think I might need to stop dressing sloppily even when I am out on a grocery errand. (*sheepish grin again*)

The Blog That Touches My Heart

I just read this amazing birth story written by Kelle Hampton of her daughter. Nella. I must say this is the most touching blog that I have ever read and it definitely brought down lots of tears. Not tears of sorrow but tears that a Mom sheds because of the unconditional love for her child.

I have never felt this touched for a long time, not since the moment I held Allysa in my arms. My heart goes to Kelle. Thanks for being such a strong woman and Mom! You are definitely an inspiration to all.

I knew I have to share this. Click here to link to Nella's birth story.

Take A Break (and a really long post)

Greetings to y’all. I’m back!

And of course, my sincere apologies on the long break that I had taken from blogging.

Well, I had realized that I needed time to sort out some personal thoughts on blogging and therefore took a break. An initial couple of days break soon becomes a 2-week one. But I must say it was a much needed break for me. And I needed more time to spend with my baby (which I felt I had neglected a little since I blog compulsively), keep up with my daily chores and not to forget, ME time. Time to just laze on bed and watch drama serials online or watch podcasts on my iPhone. Goodness, I can’t say how much fun I am having with my iPhone now (apart from trying to blog with it. It was a torture to use the touch-key pad.) I am definitely pro-qwerty.

Besides the above, I am also aching physically and it’s pretty uncomfortably miserable to bear with chronic wrist-pain and back aches. Argghhh…I am sure most Mommies share the sentiments as I do or have been through such phrase. I had been experiencing intense wrist-pain for awhile. Apparently, it is termed “Baby Wrist” or clinically DeQuervain's tenosynovitis”. It had started with my right and now my left too. So you can imagine how uncomfortable or rather, painful my daily life can be. I feel pain on my wrists even when I am dressing myself, cutting with a scissors, writing with a pen, using chopsticks etc. Or whenever there is flexing of my thumbs. So you can see, how this injury has caused inconvenience to my daily life. And all this pain derives from handling Baby Allysa especially with her increasing growth. (bleah!) But then again, I wouldn’t trade my pain for her chubbiness. I simply adore her chubby cheeks, thighs and butts! And being babies, they have to be chubby. That’s the way they should be.

So of course with less time to blog, I have more time to spend with baby and we had lots of fun. These are some things we did or happened during this period of time:
·    Went to attend baby Zhi Xuan’s full month celebration! (What a lovely darling! Just made me reminisce of the good old days with Allysa! It is definitely a bitter-sweet feeling. ^^)
·    Had our official first playdate with Kayla who is 2 months older than Allysa. (Well, the girls did not have much interaction on their play date. But I am positive they will warm up to each other soon. Mommy Jingfang and her family was such a good host to Baby Allysa and me.)
·    Had stay-over at Grandma’s. My mom volunteered to look after Allysa after our reunion dinner so that Aloysius and I could have some couple time all by ourselves.
·    Aloysius and I had (finally) our first couple time again! Just like the good old days sans baby. Though it was just a night, but it was quality time spent together. Well, I shan’t elaborate on the details here but I must say we found the “loving feeling” back again. And “What a difference life with a baby makes!”
·    I (finally!) detach myself from Allysa and went on some pampering time any women need! I had facial (it’s been awhile) and went to do some quick Chinese New Year shopping after that. Of course among my own shopping, I can’t resist but to pop into Children’s toy shops and boutiques to get some clothing and new toys for Allysa too. (Lol!) I guess this is what all Mommies do now. It used to be browsing Men’s department but now, it is baby’s beside myself. (Sorry, hubby! Next trip, I promise.)
·    Allysa is the mastery of her new acquired skill, flipping. And I must say(praise) she is such a flipper now. She flipped so well that she almost went under my mom’s bed. That was a funny sight!
·     I swear I heard Allysa’s first word!(Though Daddy begs to differ.) It is neither “Mama” nor “Dada” sort of words. It’s “Help” and with clear enunciation too. (My baby knows the importance of surviving. Good job!)
·    And the not-too- good thing: Allysa suffered from indigestion again! And I reckon she is allergic to barley. I tried feeding her organic oats with barley and she suffered from bloatness and loss of appetite after that. (She was farting excessively but not pooing.) My poor baby! Fortunately, she has since recovered from this terrifying episode. Goodness, I think Allysa has inherited our weak digestive system. Sigh….Looks like I have to be more aware of what goes into my baby’s mouth.
·    Oh! We finally received the hard and soft copies of Allysa’s first photoshoot. I simply love the shots and it was well taken. Kudos to the photographer and his team from BabyU Photo Studio International, Uncle Stanley and of course, our (self-acclaimed) Singapore Next Top Model, Allysa Lim! We had also received lots of compliments from our friends and families. Thanks to y’all.

It was definitely a worthy 2-weeks break. And I am ready to go on blogging again. Do I miss blogging? I sure do. There are many times I mind-blog which means I blog mentally but am too lazy to type it down. Anyway, I hope and look forward to sharing more stories of my family and myself. And I am grateful for my readers who have hang on to my blog despite the hiatus.

Chicka Chicka Boom Boom - With Lyrics - Alphabet Song

Wow! Sharing my favourite story in video form. I have been reading this story to Allysa eversince she was in my womb and she is (still) loving this!

Rolie Polie

Oh my!! My munchkin flipped, right behind me while I was blogging! This was what I saw when I turned around (she was sleeping behind me).

(Ta-Duh!)

She is kind of a late flipper, right at 6 months and 1 week old. We were practicising with her on her flipping skills lately. And to my surprised, she did it, TODAY!

"There were one on the bed and the little one said, "Roll over, roll over."

Cereal Baby - Pt 2

Yes and if you can recall, I did blog about my munchkin’s start to semi-solids. So I decided after a week of (just) rice cereal, it’s high time for her to taste her second food. I had initially planned on introducing a vegetable to her and decided on avocado (Yum!). Unfortunately, the supermarket had run out of stock and thus I ended up with Organic Oatmeal Cereal instead.
(Happy Baby)

(An occasional treat for herself)

(Or more!)

Well, I am just going to observe and see how things go four days later. Hopefully, I will be able to start her on avocado soon after this.

(Oh Yum!)

The iPhone Fever

Twelve hours later and I am still beaming from the surprise I received last night. Though it was supposed to be a Christmas gift, but belated is better than never. I received my first iPhone from Aloysius. Boy, was I caught by surprise. I knew he was getting his yesterday and we agreed that I will get mine later since I am in no hurry to change a new mobile.

So he came home last night and showed me his iPhone. I took a glance and the next minute, he was sitting at a corner, busy meddling with his new toy. I just continued blogging away. I had also mentioned a problem I faced and that was the registration failure of my SIM card in my (old) mobile to him.

Suddenly, I felt a vibration and heard a ringtone. I turned around to find another iPhone, vibrating right beside me. I looked back at Aloysius and he was beaming away. And at that instant, my eyes litted up. I was caught by surprise. He had gotten me an iPhone as well. How sweet! He said so we can both enjoy the fun with iPhone together. Awww.....My heart melted. (and that also explained the problem I faced with my old SIM card as the telelcom company has deactivated it.)

So we spent the night away (till the wee hours), iphone-meddling. I think we are caught in the iPhone fever now. I am still a little iPharded now but I knew it won't take long for me to get all things figure out.

Gosh, I have like so many to-do things on my list with my new gadget like getting a pretty new skin to dress it up, personalising the settings, downloading the wondrous apps (free of course) and the list goes on. Okay, and that is not to mention of my daily tasks of blogging and SAHM duties.

( Welcome to the iPhone Generation! )

Love Actually - Photo-Editing Series

I was sick on Sunday. I had a relaspe of bad back spasm  and felt really lousy the whole day. Imagine your back hurting whenever you move? It was really uncomfortable and inconvenient for me. Fortunately, we had some medication on hand and I had temporary relief after that. As you can see, I did not blog yesterday because I was in no state (no mood) to do so. All I could do was to lie on bed, especially after the medication.

Today, I felt better though there is still some occasional pain.

Anyway, I had time to explore with Phixr (again!). I just did some editing with this lovely candid shot of Allysa and me.

(SOOC - Shoot Out Of Camera. A new term I learnt ^^)
Here are the steps that it took to go through the tranformation:

  1. Change to "Black and White" effects via Picasa and watermarked it. Saved file.
  2. Upload to Phixr Online. Clicked on the"Colour Effects" icon and chose "Normalize"
  3. Then clicked on the smiley face icon "Fun Effects" and chose "Oil Painting"
  4. Then clicked on "Instant Photo" to create the polaroid photo frame.
  5. And Voila!
Love Actually

The Lomo Effect

I love Lomography. I liken the effect that is created by a lomo camera. I used to owe one Colour Splash which I had just passed on to my bro. I had outgrown using the camera as I disliked having to develop the photos before seeing the effects. Besides, I think it is a waste of money to just develop a stack of abstractly taken photographs. I am a practical person who likes seeing my photo the moment I take it.

Picasa does not seem to be able to satisfy my need for Lomo effect photos, as least not that I know of. So I google "Lomo effect applicaition software" and voila! I found the newest addition of FREE photo editing software online - Phixr! The photo "Happy Trio" was my latest work of using Phixr.

(Before and after)

I am very excited about this new program. To top things off, I use this program with ease (and when I say this, it really means it's easy).

Blog Building

I mentioned I wanted to start a new hobby and I guess I have found it. Blog Building or designing in another word.

( Nothing more apt to describe Blog Building! )

Since the launch of my blog, I have woke up every morning with new ideas to touch up my blog, upload new photos, have fun with Picasa and surfing around for more great ideas to beautify my blog. I am no expert in this area but I am having lots of fun watching the outcome of my design.

At the present stage, I am satisfied with my blog. It has come a long way (for me) and it will go further. I am (still) drawing lots of inspirations from many bloggers out there with their creative designs and beautiful photographs especially those who are Mommy bloggers, like me.

I am also very glad to make some new friends and am excited to make more.
(Thanks Gabby of Just Another Day in Paradise for being my first "Out-of-the-Closet" follower. Love her daughter, Cady! ^^)

Anyway, thanks for following my blog (so far). It has been a pleasure to have you appreciate what I have done. If you have a thought to share, you are most welcome.

Loss Disbelief!

(WARNING! This is not my usual post.)
I am upset!

I am devastated!

I am pissed!

With Myself!

I can't believe this. But I totally missed out on Survivor Nicaragua's finale! OMG....What was I thinking? I had been faithfully watching every episode of this season's Survivor. (I am a total Survivor Freak. I heart this show.) Seriously, I can't get over my absent-mindedness. At least, not right now. Have you ever have this feeling of angst? I feel loss now and upset that I am never going to catch the finale. (Live! and before I know who is the winner.) I mean, come on, this is the essense of the show; the last episode!I had been waiting so long to find out who is the final survivor. And I MISSED IT! *&^%$#@

This is such a dreaded feeling. It's like reading a three thousand pages book and not to find out the final ending. Boo hoo hoo...I am grieving for my loss.

I am going to search the net for any chances of watching the episodes I missed. Maybe, youtube has it? Or do you know where I can watch it? It's urgetnt. I am going on cold turkey now. I can feel my hands trembling. Sweating ...

Goodness, I need a sign!

I am ....... sigh ........ very disappointed with myself.

Depressed .... (still)

But on the brighter side, my favourite Survivor of this season won! Good job, Fabio! I think he played the best game. I must say he has got the luck. Fabio dude, you got my vote!

(Yesh! That's right. My favourite Survivor won! Hurray!)

And I thought to please myself a little more, this is what I got!

( Opps!.... )

But I am not a big fan of such risque shot (Serious! though I do agree it is tastefully taken).

Ahh ... this is better for me.

Boyish , charming, grubby, my "Abercrombie boy"! Gawd! I think I have got a new crush. (and keep my fingers crossed that Aloysius miss this post.)
